We’re living through some strange and potentially depressing times at the moment, so it’s important to look for the silver lining in every cloud. And whilst, sadly, this epidemic has sometimes brought out the worst in human nature, it’s also – as these things always do – brought out the best in many others. People are looking out for each other and offering help like never before, and many people are having to get creative in order to keep going during difficult circumstances. This includes looking after the mental well-being of those in isolation and ensuring people don’t feel cut off from the rest of society.
Chris Martin Live Streams Free Concert From Home Over Instagram
We saw a great example of that last night when Coldplay’s Chris Martin put on a solo “mini gig” from his house, and live-streamed it to their 10.9m followers on Instagram.
Chris revealed that he was meant to be spending time with the rest of his Coldplay bandmates, but they were currently “stuck in different countries” and so couldn’t play together. So instead, he decided to use the wonders of modern technology, the Internet and social media for good and check in with fans around the world to see how they’re doing, where they are and to see “what I could do for you”.
Chris named the initiative “together at home” in the hope that others will follow suit and take it over in the following days. He read comments and took requests whilst fans chatted in the comments.
You can watch back the half-hour live stream below:
Personally, I think it’s a superb initiative and shows how modern technology can be used to help us when in need, and to keep people connected, talking to each other and staying positive.
What other tech initiatives have you seen being taken, or taken yourself? Let us know, and I hope everyone reading this stays safe and healthy!
