Following on from the PaMu Quiet Mini which I reviewed last year, the Z1 Pro builds on what was a solid foundation and makes a number of improvements, most notably in the design of the earbuds themselves as well as with a much more compact and premium-feeling charging case.

As you’d expect, the Z1 Pros come with all the usual accessories; a pouch to keep the USB-C charging cable and the case in, a selection of different sized silicon earbuds and an instruction manual.

Pamu Z1 Pro: Sound Quality

Once again, I’m impressed with the sound quality of these earbuds. And I don’t just mean “at this price point”, I mean I’m impressed full stop. Listening to a range of pop, rock, hip-hop and dance music they perform very well indeed and the bass is rich, deep and powerful without distorting or drowning out the mids and highs. At this price point and from a brand which is, let’s face it, not exactly well-known or premium you might expect a compromise here but there certainly wasn’t in my testing. I might even go as far as to say the sound quality was comparable to my Sony WH-1000XM4s. Maybe.

Pamu Z1 Pro: Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation

My current Desktop PC has some pretty beefy fans in and my go-to test for ANC has become the “sitting at my desk and turning on ANC” test. These pass that test with flying colours because as soon as I turn ANC on in the app – the sound disappears completely and all I can hear is my slight tinnitus. Is the ANC as good as on my industry-leading Sony headphones? Probably not, but is it more than adequate? It certainly is.

Pamu Z1 Pro: Comfort and Looks

I criticised the design of the PaMu Quiet Mini earbuds for being a bit too Apple-esque with their pointy-down-from-the-ear shape, because I strongly dislike Apple and wouldn’t want to wear anything which might be construed to be trying to look like their style. So these earbuds with their more compact and weighty feel seem like a big step up for me, and the nicer shape looking less like Airpods is a bonus!

I’m not sure about the green colour, though, but fortunately they come in a range of other colours too. Which is your favourite? Let me know in the comments.

Pamu Z1 Pro: Final Thoughts

Padmate continue to be a brand which delight with their quality and performance at a much lower price point than many of their big-name rivals. You won’t find them on Amazon though, but you can save 20% with discount code PAULFP20 over on the Padmate Website.
