There is some truth in that when EVs (electric cars) do burn, they’re harder to put out. BUT they are far safer and MUCH LESS likely to catch fire in the first place. Some studies even say up to 80 times less likely to catch fire. And when you think about it, that does make sense because, of course, in a petrol or diesel car, you’re literally sat on top of a – often plastic – fuel tank full of liquid, highly flammable, highly volatile fuel. You’ve got oil in there. You’ve got other fluids all around things that get hot and create sparks and can catch fire. So, you know, it makes sense. When can you think with an electric car, you’ve hardly got any moving parts.
